WW: That time Bobby was adopted by deer

i saw a group of deer while trail riding monday

i didn't think i was going to be able to get too close

but figured we'd try to get as close as they'd let us

they could have cared less it turns out

bobby kept trying to graze with them

but i was like, bobby! get your head up and pose!

finally they either got annoyed or weirded out by
my giggling and started wandering off

except this big doe who really didn't want to leave her snacks

the slowest exit ever

bye deer!

WW: In a dressage galaxy far, far away...

It's been too long since I've done a good gif-filled Wordless Wednesday post! In honor of the release of the new Star Wars movie, I bring to you Bobby doing dressage.

Warming up, asking for some long and low:

Bobby:

Trot lengthening:

Bobby:

Bobby:
(pretty sure I remember this as a direct quote.)
Bobby:

Let's turn down the quarter line...

Bobby:

And ask for a little leg yield:

Bobby:

Shoulder in to haunches in down the long side:

Bobby:

Counter canter serpentines:

Bobby:

AHEM. Without any flying changes:

Bobby:

Is it possible? Can we do a whole ride without a tantrum?

Bobby:

Bobby. What is going through your head that makes flailing around so violently okay?

WW: Weekend Trail Ride

about to cross the road

this six stall barn is for sale. someone come be my friend!

where we were dive bombed by the hawk last weekend.
bobby was on high alert for repeat attacks.

"i throw my head up in the air sometimes. singing let gooo, let me galloppp!"

awesome view, even in the mist.

exploring a new path

And because those are pretty boring, I'll deviate from "wordless" quickly:

I got off of Bobby after riding around for about thirty minutes to pull my saddle pad back into place. (P.S. Someone buy my fucking saddle.) I had unhooked his girth completely from both sides, and Bobby was standing there just chilling like the good trail pony he is. Then, out of nowhere, he flings his head up and starts snorting and spinning around frantically. When I yelled at him to stand still, he tried to yank the reins out of my hands.

As has been established, we live in a very healthy black bear area. Very healthy. I had to yell at our "pet" one to get the fuck out of our backyard last weekend so I could let the dogs out (because I fear Mags will think it's her papa). I didn't hear anything crashing through the woods we were standing next to, but I sure as hell wasn't going to stand there and wait to see if something came meandering out.

I did the girth back up as quickly as I could and we jetted home, slipped pad be damned. I told BM about it when we got back and she was like, "Oh, yeah! I saw a bear on the backside of that hill while I was driving home yesterday."

Awesome.

I'm glad my horse's lack of self preservation over fences does not carry over to a lack of self preservation around wild animals.

WW: No Means No

"you're going to yell at this dog, right?"

"no, puppy! cookie lady said stand so i can't come with you!"

just ignore it and maybe it will go away

"wait. are those lady horses?"

No means no....

...unless maybe you can sneak some grass without getting into trouble.

WW: Bobby tells his side of "Think Pink"

(I guess I should really call these Gif Wednesday, but they started out as Wordless Wednesday, so that's what they'll stay as. Newer to the blog? Click on the "wordless wednesday" tag at the bottom of this post and check out the others.)

Me: Hey, Bobby! Time to wake up! Guess what fun thing I have planned for you today?

Bobby:

Me: I have pink feathers, pink spray cans, pink markers....it's all going to go on you!

Bobby:

Me: Hold still. I think I can spray this on your mane without getting your eyes. No, maybe not. Let me just put this towel over your head to protect your silly facey face.

Bobby:

Memphis: Whoa, bro. What the hell happened?

Bobby:

Memphis: But that feathery snake is eating you!!

Bobby:

Me: Aw, everyone is here to take your picture. Turn this way, Bobby. Put your ears up. No cookies until your ears are up!

Bobby:

Me: Okay, time to go up to the field. Yes, you have to go in your outfit.

Bobby:

Me: Ahahaha, gallop past the mares! They think your tail boa is scary!

Bobby:

Me: Hahahaha, tail boaaaaaaa!!

Bobby:

Me: Alright. We'll just pose for a few more pictures with the puppy and then we'll be done.

Bobby:

Me: See, Bobby? That wasn't so bad. Now all your fan girls will give you cookies!

Bobby:

Me: Okay, see you tomorrow, pony britches!
